Frauke, nearing sixty, no longer feels desirable, while her retired husband Wolfi—suddenly without work—doesn’t know what to do with himself. Their daughter Julie is determined to finally break through as a model and obsessively tries to force her body into the industry’s beauty ideal. Watching her is schoolgirl Leyla, convinced that with Julie’s looks she could have a better life, yet unable to connect with herself as she is. Julie’s sister-in-law Sonja struggles with a body that, after two pregnancies, becomes the visible expression of a deeper personal crisis. Her husband Milan fails to see the pressure she puts on herself as a young mother. For Sonja’s best friend Vicky this comes as no surprise—she’s convinced women and men will never truly meet as equals, at least not in love. But her new colleague Franz is eager to prove her wrong.
